Prof. Dave Berri of The Wages of Wins asks in a comment to a post:
“Here is an interesting thought experiment… are there available free agents who could sink the ship in Miami? In other words, could Miami hire a collection of negative wins producers and ruin the entire show?”
Here’s my quick answer (I’m supposed to be working 🙂 using numbers from the Free Agent Table I prepared:
Miami has seven roster spots filled If Miami signed the 5 worst available Free Agents (we’ll call them the BRUTAL FIVE) and the rookies perform at 9th or tenth man level we get 48 wins. So still a playoff team. It is important to note that those five are significantly worse than anything else out there. So other than signing those five guys this is a 60 + win team.
