Around the WOW: Should old debates be forgot

“Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?” -Robert Burns

Back off that railing there George, Amare's not really going to win the MVP and KG just has a calf injury.

I know, I know, I haven’t been posting often during the holidays. Let me make it up to you by bringing back and old favorite. Around the WOW makes a comeback with the best of the WOW network (and I’m feeling a bit of Capra this time). Thankfully there’s been a plethora of great stuff since our last tour.  But first:

Let’s talk turkey (no not eat it, I’m totally stuffed).

Clarence: Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?

A fitting quote for Prof. Berri of the Wages of Wins who set us on the path to writing. You wouldn’t be reading this without him (excluding my mom and beautiful wife of course). Among other great pieces, he gives us:

  1. The much asked for FAQ. A must read for any reader of this blog that is sure to elicit a thousand link backs and be brought up in a million debates.
  2. A piece on the most cost efficient Team in the NBA
  3. A piece straight from my own heart on Big Baby replacing Kevin Garnett

George Bailey: What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That’s a pretty good idea. I’ll give you the moon, Mary.

Next up is Ty Willihnganz at Courtside Analysist who actually does give us the moon with his two part 32 team breakdown of how wins are being produced in the NBA for the season so far .

Clarence: [explaining] Your brother, Harry Bailey, broke through the ice and was drowned at the age of nine.
George Bailey: That’s a lie! Harry Bailey went to war – he got the Congressional Medal of Honor, he saved the lives of every man on that transport.
Clarence: Every man on that transport died! Harry wasn’t there to save them, because you weren’t there to save Harry.

The quote goes is in honor of Andres Alvarez at NerdNumbers who’s tool kicked us off and who’s been doing some awesome work himself with :

  1. The Quest for the Perfect Game and The Greatest Games of all Time
  2. A piece on the meaning of average? that’s going on the next revision of the Basics (coming soon)
  3. Finally something called a podcast

You had to be there

Nick: Hey look, mister – we serve hard drinks in here for men who want to get drunk fast, and we don’t need any characters around to give the joint “atmosphere”. Is that clear, or do I have to slip you my left for a convincer?

Official assistant GM of this Blog Devin Dignam of NBeh? , gets a bit of a depressing quote as he gives us the All time Raptor Teams. All I can say is sorry buddy.

George Bailey: Isn’t it wonderful? I’m going to jail!

A counterintuitive quote for our Miami Heat blogger, reservoirgod who makes an interesting counterpoint on Miami and the Short Supply of Fast People:

Sneaker Prophets: Fast Don’t Lie and Quick Can’t Be Caught

And with this we end for today. I leave you with this:

Wishing you and yours the very best for 2011 🙂
